Week 6: Manchester Mission: Southport

Hello from Southport!

Sorry that my email is late. I hope you got my letter letting you
know what was going on. We had transfers this week and so we don't
have a p-day on the Monday of. Elder Jollife and I are both staying
in Southport. This is will be his fourth transfer here which means he
will have been here for a bit over six months! I dont know if I could
be in one area for six months....

I'm glad to here that everyone is settling into things....even Kobe!
Ha I just laughed thinking about it. I love that dumb, wonderful dog
I continue to pray all the time for each of you and specifically Colton
with basketball. I will continue to pray even more specifically for
that as well.

We have a lot of new investigators, but the trouble is always trying
to get them to progress. Pray that we have progressing investigators.
The Lord has continued to bless us through our faithfulness and
diligence. But it has been an uplifting and wonderful week. We also
went to the temple today since it was p-day today. I love going to
the temple. I feel like I'm at home. What a wonderful and reassuring
Spirit I feel everytime I am there.

I went to my first "chippy" (fish and chip shop) on Friday! It was so
amazing and delicious! I think malted vinegar is the only way to eat
them. You are going to have to have them at some point. Apparently,
we got them at the best chippy in Southport as well called the Swan.

President Bullock is the or one of the most inspired men I have ever
met. He has given us study topics on the Christlike Attributes in My
Gospel. We are studying each topic, once a week, until the end of the
year. Last week was faith and this week I am continuing my study on
hope. What incredible insights I have had. President has asked us to
challenge our families to do the same. So I ask our family to do the
"Becoming Like Him" study with me. You will need to combine faith and
hope for this week, but I will give you the complete schedule on
Monday. I promise that you will come to love and learn more about our
Savior through this as well as "become more like Him." Share your
thoughts and impressions with me on what you learn as well through the
scriptures, books, etc.

From faith, I have written in my study journal "A little faith and
work can give you a witness from the Holy Ghost. Miracles occur. I
have seen miracles occur from this priciple in my own life (2 Nephi
26:13)."

Another insight from faith is from 1 Nephi 16:28. In that scripture,
the Holy Ghost is our Liahona. Through our faith and diligence, the
Spirit will "point" us in the right direction. Strenghten our faith
by doing those "small and simple things (Alma 37:6)"

In my study of hope, I read a wonderful passsage that spoke a lot to
me in Moroni 7:40-48. Through these verses, I noticed some Christlike
attributes that lead to others. The best way to put it was through an
equation: Humility---> Hope---> Faith---> Charity.

What I have in my study journal is, "We cannot only have one of
Christ's attributes. We must have all of them in order to become our
best selves. Each attribute leads to another."

A new electric toothbrus charger would be nice for Christmas since the
high voltage here fried it. Sorry about that. Other than that I have
no idea. I hope its not too much trouble if I think of something that
it would be okay to send another package. But other than that I
really can't think of anything.

I love you all and hope all will continue to go well for you in Idaho
Falls. Keep up all the wonderful details in your emails and letters!
I love them! May Heavenly Father continue to bless our family in all
that we do is my prayer. Thank you for all the wonderful support you
have given me here and throughout all my life. What a wonderful
blessing it was to be raised in such an amazing family.

Love,
Elder Starr
