1st Preston MTC Letter From Elder Starr

Hello family and friends!

The plane ride to here was one long day! Yeah being with all of those cute girls from the volleyball team in the security line was a real comforter!  They seemed to enjoy answering their questions about my mission and I made them laugh a lot.  It took us only four hours to land from SLC to JFK.  There were seven of us total that flew with our flight from JFK.

It was a six our flight from JFK to Manchester.  We all got in the van and it was so weird being on the wrong side of the road prior to arriving at the MTC at 9:00 a.m. There are 27 missionaries here right now.  Seven are American, 15 are English, and five are other.  We each had interviews during the first day and I am one of the three District Leaders in the MTC.  There are nine in my district and they are way awesome!

My companion is Elder Bentley from Preston and is serving in the Leeds mission.  He was originally born in Boise but has lived in England since he was nine. He seems to want to obedient to everything here but sometimes makes as a little late Most missionaries here are going to the Scotland/Ireland Mission and there are five elders heading to the Macnhester mission.

My P-Day is Wednesday here.  We just got back from the temple and it was awesome.  After passing through the veil, I read in Moroni 10 and compared it to gaining a truth of the Book of Mormon to knowing the truth of we learn in the temple.

We have been doing a lot of role play scenarios for teaching investigators since I have been here.  On Friday, we will actually be going out to Manchester to do street contacting.
The next Friday, we will actually be tracting too.

The spirit is very strong here and has been my constant companion.  Its been very cool how much I've learned from the scriptures and teachers since I have gotten here.  Thank you for all the prayers and support!  I love and miss you all!

P.S.  The debit card is still not here but I assume it will be here very soon.  We figured out the towel situation.  Like you Dad, I dont quite understand how we forget them.

P.S.S.  All the English accents here are so awesome!  I seem to have started getting a little tiny one that I have with certain words so hopefully it keeps progressing.

P.S.S.S.  Most of the food is very good thus far :) and classes are long sometimes but fun.
